Joshua Meyer

Joshua Meyer

Bladesmith • Artist • Instructor

Josh is a sought-after local artist and instructor whose work is commissioned by businesses and individuals seeking unique one-of-a-kind pieces and experiences offered in his blacksmithing classes.

Born and raised in the South Pacific jungles of Papua New Guinea, Josh's formative years were heavily influenced by the beauty, diversity, survival, and magic of the unique peoples of this land. Moving to the United States as a young adult he took his passion for the outdoors and the ingenuity of off-grid living and started his own business doing high-end landscaping, stonework, and marine construction for clients along the rivers and lakes of Alabama.

As much as he enjoyed that work, there was a much deeper passion for art calling him that just couldn't be fully satisfied in the construction industry. He needed more creativity and freedom, so after moving west he eventually found himself in the mountain town of Flagstaff, Arizona. In 2018 Josh finally found the courage to quit his job and follow his dream of being a full-time artist and business owner of The-Quench.

Josh’s passion for art, creativity, and challenging experiences inspires students to push beyond their comfort zone and discover untapped abilities in themselves in the forge.
